Frequently Asked Questions
The Wandering Dojo brings a slow-craft coffee ritual to your event. Here's what to know before you book.
Booking & Pricing
-
Fill out our Request a Quote form with your date, guest count, and location. We'll follow up with a tailored quote within 48 hours.
-
Our base package starts around $1,250 for a 4-hour service window with 50–100 guests. Pricing adjusts from there based on your hours of service and guest count, so every quote reflects your actual event, not a one-size-fits-all rate. Request a quote for an exact number.
-
As soon as you have a date — especially for wedding season (spring through fall) and the holiday corporate-event stretch, when the calendar fills fastest. Shorter notice is sometimes possible, so it's always worth asking.
-
A 50% deposit secures your date, with the remaining balance due the day of the event.
-
We're based in Columbus' King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood and regularly serve Columbus, Dublin, New Albany, Upper Arlington, Worthington, and Westerville. Outside that range? Ask — we may still be able to make it work, possibly with a travel fee.
At Your Event
-
Two separate dedicated 15–20A circuits within reach of where we set up. We carry our own fresh and waste water on board, so there's no sink or plumbing hookup required at your venue. Setting up somewhere without power? Let us know — we can bring a portable power station for an added fee.
-
The cart itself is compact — about 4 feet by 28 inches — so it fits comfortably indoors or out. We just ask for enough clearance around it for the barista to move and guests to queue comfortably.
-
We typically arrive 1 to 1.5 hours before your event start to set up, and need a similar window to break down afterward. That time isn't counted against your paid service hours.
-
For outdoor events, we ask that you arrange a covered or indoor backup space we can move to if the weather turns. Just point it out when we arrive, or let us know ahead of time.
-
For smaller gatherings, yes — it's just the barista and the cart. For larger events, we bring on additional help so the line keeps moving and every pour still gets the same unhurried attention.
The Menu
-
Espresso classics (latte, cortado, macchiato, americano, cappuccino), our signature pours (The Wanderer, The Long Way, The Bronzeville Cortado, Dojo Old Fashioned, and Sensei's Switcha), plus tea, chai, matcha, and hot cocoa for non-coffee drinkers. See the full Menu for details.
-
Yes — the published menu is a starting point. We're happy to tailor drinks, add seasonal specials, or build something custom around your event's theme.
-
Yes, oat milk and decaf are both available on request — just mention it when you book so we're stocked and ready.
-
Yes, most of our drinks can be made hot or iced, whichever you prefer. A few, like our cold brew, the Dojo Old Fashioned, and Sensei’s Switcha, are built to be served cold only.
-
Yes, everything guest-facing — cups, lids, napkins, stir sticks — is included. There's nothing extra for you to source.
Policies
-
Deposits are non-refundable but fully transferable to a new date within 12 months, if you need to reschedule. Cancellations inside 14 days of the event forfeit the deposit.
-
Tips are always appreciated, never expected. Many hosts choose to leave a jar at the cart, or build gratuity into the final quote instead.
-
Credit or debit card for both your deposit and final balance.
-
If we're able to stay, we're happy to — extra time beyond your booked hours is billed at our standard hourly rate.
-
It happens! That's why we try to accommodate a range instead of a specific number. Let us know your updated count a few days out and we'll adjust your quote to match.
